RENO, NV - A Reno man continues to stay in jail, charged with shooting and killing his friend.

Matthew Mahaffey pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the charge of murder with a firearm.

Police say last July, Mahaffey shot Michael Boyle while Mahaffey was picking Boyle up in downtown Reno.

Investigators say Boyle was opening the door to Mahaffey's truck when Mahaffey shot Boyle.

Mahaffey says he thought someone was trying to break into his truck.

Trial is set in Washoe District Court June 25th. May 31st, there will be a bail hearing to determine if he will be allowed to go free until the trial.
