Student Carjacked, Suspects on the Loose

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police have arrested a man they think is responsible for the carjacking of a college student early Wednesday morning, among other crimes.

Thursday night, they worked with Reno police and Washoe County sheriff's deputies to track and arrest 30-year old Jeramie Carlsson near 395 and Plumb in Reno. That's in addition to Wednesday's arrest of Michael Mulkey, allegedly the passenger during Wednesday's carjacking and subsequent police chase.

Mulkey was located in the area where the vehicle in Wednesday's pursuit had been abandoned in Spanish Springs. Several guns that are believed to be stolen were located a short distance from the abandoned car.

The search started after a car chase, when Sparks police officers attempted to pull over Carlsson for a traffic stop near the Sparks Marina. Police say Mulkey was in the car along with a woman who isn’t yet identified.

Carlsson is also suspected of a series of home burglaries throughout Reno and Sparks, plus grand theft auto, and he’s suspected of possessing stolen property and is wanted for felony eluding police.

Police think Carlsson, Mulkey and the woman beat a TMCC student Wednesday morning on campus, then took his pickup.
