Wife Saw Bullet Hole While Skyping With Soldier

Posted: 10:33 AM May 6, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

DALLAS (AP) - The family of an Army officer serving in Afghanistan said Sunday his wife saw a bullet hole in the closet behind him after he collapsed during a Skype video chat.

Capt. Bruce Kevin Clark's brother-in-law Bradley Taber-Thomas released a statement saying Clark's wife, Susan Orellana-Clark, was
talking to her husband when he suddenly collapsed. Orellana-Clark saw a bullet hole in a closet behind him.

The statement says the Skype link remained open for two hours Monday as family and friends in the U.S. and Afghanistan tried to get Clark help. Then two military personnel arrived and appeared to check his pulse. The family says they gave no details on his condition to his wife.

The Pentagon has said the cause of Clark's death remains under investigation.

In the statement, Clark's wife said she was providing details of what she saw "to honor my husband and dispel the inaccurate information and supposition promulgated by other parties."

Clark, 43, grew up in Michigan and previously lived in Spencerport, N.Y., a suburb of Rochester, his wife's hometown. He joined the Army in 2006 and was stationed in Hawaii before he was assigned to the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. He deployed to Afghanistan in March.

Clark's body was returned Thursday to Dover Air Force Base.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, aged 3 and 9.
