CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Two Nevada water agencies will receive
a combined $400,000 in federal grant funding to increase water
efficiency.

The money from the U.S. Department of Interior will go to the Southern Nevada Water Authority in Las Vegas and Truckee-Carson
Irrigation District in northern Nevada.

The southern Nevada agency will receive $300,000 for its landscape rebate program designed to entice residents to replace turf with water efficient landscaping.

In the north, $103,000 will go to the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District to automate six check structures along the V-Line Canal. Officials say that project should result in water savings of more than 3,400 acre-feet a year.

The grants were announced Wednesday by Nevada Rep. Shelley
Berkley.
