LAS VEGAS (AP) - Three Nevada employers are one step closer to a Department of Defense award that honors them for supporting employees in the National Guard or military Reserves.
Among the nation's 133 semifinalists are GE Measurement and Control Solutions in Carson City, and the Nevada Department of Transportation and THOR Construction in Las Vegas.
They've climbed to the top among more than 3,200 nominees for the 2012 Employer Support Freedom Award.
Winners are chosen based on how they support employees who need to deploy, and how they assist the families of those serving.
Fifteen winners will be announced early this summer, and will be honored in Washington, D.C., in September.
