SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - Vail Resorts, Inc. has announced that it will be acquiring Kirkwood Mountain Resort. For $18 million, Vail Resorts is purchasing the ski resort as well as the undeveloped sites at the center of the base area which are zoned for residential and commercial development.

This mean that Vail Resorts will soon operate three mountain resorts in the Lake Tahoe area: Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Heavenly Mountain Resort, and Northstar California.

For season pass holders, this means more access. Vail resorts announced that, effective immediately, Heavenly and Northstar pass holders will have access to Kirkwood and Kirkwood pass holders will be able to ski and ride Heavenly and Northstar.
