PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) - El Dorado County's district attorney is objecting to efforts to make public transcripts from the grand jury that indicted the couple accused of kidnapping Jaycee Dugard.
District Attorney Vern Pierson said in a court filing Wednesday that permitting the news media to view the transcripts now would give Phillip and Nancy Garrido's lawyers grounds for seeking a change of venue.
Pierson said it would also violate Dugard's privacy to release the transcripts before the case goes to trial since she testified before the grand jury about "extremely private and violent sexual acts" she allegedly experienced at the hands of the Garridos.
Several news organizations, including The Associated Press, have asked to have the grand jury transcripts unsealed. A judge is scheduled to consider the matter on Nov. 4.

I am sad that KOLOTV has kept all the old news about Jaycee online. Could she read it? Could her true family read it? I just do not understand the persistence of the old reporting permanently carved in stone, on your site. Give the lady a break. She needs no reminders. She is going through enough, as she has in the past. Jaycee, we are with you, but enough is enough. God bless Jaycee and her wonderful children.
