PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A group of media organizations wants a judge to unseal transcripts from the grand jury that indicted the Northern California couple who have pleaded guilty to kidnapping and raping Jaycee Dugard.

Karl Olson, a lawyer for news media that include The Associated Press, informed El Dorado County Judge Douglas Phimister this week that he plans to request the documents right after Phillip and Nancy Garrido are sentenced on June 2.

Olson says there is no legal justification for withholding the transcripts once criminal proceedings have concluded.

Dugard was the main witness to appear before the grand jury. Her memoir about the 18 years she spent held by the Garridos is scheduled to be published this summer.

District Attorney Vern Pierson already has asked the judge to not rule right away on the media's request.
