SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The California woman who was kidnapped and held captive by a sex offender for 18 years is urging people to
help keep their neighborhoods safe by looking out for strange
occurrences, especially involving children.
Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped at age 11, released a public
service announcement Friday.
The 20-second spot begins with a close-up of Dugard, then shows
neighborhood scenes of families walking down tree-lined sidewalks.
An empty swing sways in a park as Dugard tells viewers to speak
out if they see something amiss. She says, "You might be wrong,
but you might just save someone's life."
The PSA ends with Dugard walking arm-in-arm with her mother,
Terry Probyn.
The spot promotes the JAYC Foundation, which helps families get
treatment following an abduction or other traumatic event. It can
be viewed on the foundation's website.

I remember when Jaycee was abducted. After a few weeks went by, as with all such cases, I remember thinking, "She's dead, we won't see her again." It's rather a beautiful thing to see Jaycee...here...now.
