Carson City, NV - Long lines and frustrated customers… It has long been the way many people have felt about a visit to the DMV, but now the state agency is making some changes to speed up the service every time you want into the DMV’s doors.

The department has now upgraded the agency’s computer system using federal grant money. The new system reduces the average wait times at the DMV’s metropolitan offices by 26 to 30 minutes. The Reno office’s average wait time went from 86 minutes to 40, the Carson City office dropped to about 30 minutes.

Grant funds were also used to add additional photo booth stations at metropolitan locations. The agency plans to install a second capture station in all remaining metropolitan offices this month.
