Hunting West Nile

17-thousand catch basins here in the Truckee Meadows are the focus of county health officials. That's because they can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes which carry the West Nile Virus. The program is part of two-hundred-60-thousand dollars in emergency funding from the county to fight west nile virus. That has translated to in part two intern positions. It is their responsbility to go after mosquito larve in catch basins this summer.

Power Plant Raises Concerns

Sempra Energy of San Diego wants to build a coal-fired power plant near Gerlach in the Smoke Creek Desert. Many of the people who showed up at a public meeting tonight raised concerns about the plant. Some even complained about the meeting itself.
