Emergency Preparedness

Crews are sand-bagging and repairing the channel, but if it rained the city says these residents would need to leave.

Severe Thunderstorm Hits Sparks

The storm that brought the lightning also brought a downpour of rain and left many residents cleaning up damage from hail and mudslides.

Lightning Sparked Wildfire

Firefighters are trying to make progress on a large fire burning in the America Flats area about three miles south of Silver City. The fire has burned over 250 acres southwest of Virginia City, in the American Flat area. It's currently 50-percent contained. A line of flames could be seen along the rugged hills last night.
