Wyoming Man Arrested After Downtown Kidnap Attempt

RENO, NV - A Wyoming man is out on bail after being arrested for kidnapping in downtown Reno over the weekend.

Eric O'Neill is charged with kidnapping, strangulation and battery.

It was early Sunday morning when police say he asked a woman for a cigarette, then attacked her when she said no, dragging her down an alley next to Harrah's.

Police say the woman got away without being seriously hurt, and Harrah's security guards tackled O'neill, who was sent to a hospital for treatment.

He was released Monday and arrested, and posted $35 thousand bail almost immediately.

Police say O'Neill works for the Wyoming state prison system, and they don't know why he was in Reno.
