TRUCKEE, CA - A woman from Beijing, China, traveling through Truckee is dead after being hit by a car Thursday evening.
The California Highway Patrol says shortly before 5PM, the driver of a Lexus sedan lost control in light snow and spun off the road while headed east on Interstate 80 near Donner Springs Road. Fang Ling, the passenger, and the driver were unhurt and got out of the car. Another driver stopped to help get the car out of the snow.
The CHP says minutes later, the driver of another Lexus lost control in the same place and hit Fang Ling, who was standing next to the first Lexus. Fang Ling was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP investigators say there is no evidence the driver of the second Lexus was using alcohol or other drugs. The crash is still being investigated.
