RENO, Nev. -- Wind grounded the hot air balloons on the final day of the Great Reno Balloon Race.

Spectators say they were disappointed Sunday after most of the balloons stayed on the ground in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in northern Reno.

Officials at the Wilbur D. May Museum say the grounding was due to wind. And while many spectators say the wind felt calm at ground level, winds can often be stronger once you get off the ground.

The Race is billed as the world’s largest free ballooning event. This year it ran from Friday, September 7th through Sunday the 9th.
