INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District still doesn't know what started a wildland fire above Ralston Court and Jennifer Street in Incline Village.
The fire began about 2:30 Friday morning above the Allison subdivision. It burned at roughly a 7800-foot elevation.
Crews got to the scene just after 4am after walking through nearly a mile of thick and heavy vegetation.
The fire covered a half acre, and crews from the United States Forest Service and the fire protection district have contained it. But because of the dry, heavy fuels in the area, it still put up heavy smoke, visible from a good distance, much of the day.
The fire is now in the mop-up phase, with most resources released.
No homes or other structures were threatened, according to fire crews.
People who are smoke-sensitive were advised to stay inside and close their windows and doors as much as possible until the smoke dissipated.
