RENO, Nev. -- People across northern Nevada and eastern California woke up to rain and snow Saturday morning. For some, the winter-type weather was a welcome change. For others, it was a hassle.

Local winter resorts and ski and snowboard enthusiasts welcomed the high-country snow. Several resorts are now open with several chairlifts running.

Roadways across the area are wet and several accidents were attributed, in part, to the wet travel conditions.

Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) troopers remind drivers that with the winter weather, roadways will be wet and slick. They encourage all drivers to plan extra time for travel, leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you, never cut closely in front of a vehicle, and when you have to brake, brake slowly.
