West Wendover Teen Returned to Her Family

West Wendover Police Department officials report the missing teenager, 17-year old Laura Ortiz saw news coverage of her disappearance and returned home to her family.

Investigators say she is cooperating with law enforcement in the matter.

West Wendover officials would like to thank everyone who called in tips and provided information.

RENO, Nev. -- West Wendover Police Department officials are asking for help from people in Reno in finding a missing 17-year-old.

Police say Laura Ortiz is 5'5" tall, about 150 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair with red highlights.

Ortiz went missing Friday, April 19th. She was last seen by her family at about 2pm, mountain time. At the time, Ortiz made statements indicating she may be on her way to meet a male, online friend described only as "Jesus."

Ortiz could be in the Reno area. Other possibilities include Minnesota, Arizona, or Mexico.

At the time of her departure, Ortiz was wearing a black and white striped long-sleeve shirt, black pants and which shoes. She has several tattoos:

Tattoo on the left leg “Brenda”
Tattoo on the right leg “Juan”
Tattoo on the right thumb – stars with letters “MP”
Tattoo on the right arm “Don’t cry over a guy”
