RENO, NV - "I turned to my husband and I said, 'should we be worried' and he said 'I think so,'" says Helen Mcfadden.

Mcfadden has lived in Pleasant Valley for nearly a decade. She thought everything she owned was going to go up in smoke. Luckily the only visible damage was outside her house.

"Extremely dear friends lost their homes, so to even talk about it like we lost a trailer, we lost about 30 beautiful trees. Whatever, it's just stuff," says Mcfadden.

The Mcfaddens and hundreds of others in the area have called on disaster recovery and property restoration comapanies like Belfor.

"When we have a fire, or a wildland fire, It makes the house have a horrible odor. headaches, contamination. People don't really feel well after that, so we come through and do a thorough cleaning," says Belfor Marketing Manager Michelle Santos.

Some neighbors down the road got the cleaning after finding out how toxic the smoke damage could be.

"We're both experiencing sore throats, he's having trouble breathing," says Shalimar Beach.

Ss for helen, she knows the recovery won't be easy, but she's grateful it wasn't worse.

"The process, you know it is what it is. It's displacement, but again we have a home and we're going to have a very clean home and all the rest will come back," says Mcfadden.
