Washoe County Man Dies in Ely Prison

ELY, NV - A man in prison for crimes in Washoe County has died in his cell.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reports Tuesday, January 28, 2014, Paul Skinner was found unresponsive at the Ely State
Prison. Prison officials say medical staff performed life-sustaining procedures until emergency responders arrived, but Skinner was pronounced dead at the William Bee Ririe Hospital in Ely.

The 53-year-old Skinner was serving time for sexual assault (60 months to life with the possibility of parole), attempted
sexual assault (180 months) and robbery (180 months). Skinner had been incarcerated with the NDOC since June 9, 1997.

The White Pine County Sheriff’s Office responded and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
