LAS VEGAS (AP) - A World Series of Poker dealer from Reno has been identified as a pedestrian struck and killed by a car in Las Vegas.
The Clark County Coroner's Office says 86-year-old Richard Turnbull was killed in the accident Thursday night in the Spring Valley area.
Police say a preliminary investigation shows he was crossing Rainbow Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit. The 30-year-old male driver of the car escaped unharmed.
A spokesperson for the annual poker tournament in Las Vegas released a statement saying organizers and dealers were devastated to learn about Turnbull's death.
According to the statement, Turnbull was a World War II veteran who had been dealing poker for 38 years.
