RENO, NV - A suspect has been arrested by police after a standoff in Sun Valley.

Police arrested William Smith after he allegedly engaged in a domestic dispute with a woman inside a Sun Valley residence, which spilled outside. When police arrived, the man retreated back into the house. Police were able to contact the man on the phone and spent three hours convincing him to surrender.

The suspect eventually surrendered without further incident. He has been charged with domestic battery, obstructing and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, and assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon.

Police have not specified what the weapon was, but they referred to it as an "edged weapon" not amounting to a knife.
