RENO, NV - A Reno man has been sentenced to two counts of life in prison for sexual assault of a child and lewdness with a child under 14 years old.

Washoe District Judge Elliott Sattler sentenced 46-year-old Brett Adam Doyle April 30, 2015. Doyle will be eligible for parole in 45 years.

In August 2014, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by federal agents regarding an investigation into the production and distribution of child pornography and potential sexual abuse of a local child. The agents identified Doyle as someone they had been communicating with undercover, regarding internet sexual exploitation of children and sharing of child pornography.

Detectives searched Doyle's home and computers, and found video of Doyle in sexual acts with the girl, who is now 12 years old. They also found provocative images of the victim.

Doyle confessed to having sexually abused her for about three years.

At sentencing, the victim’s mother presented a victim impact statement stating the girl has undergone irreparable emotional harm, and that Doyle “stole her innocence".

“It is fitting that Doyle was sentenced to such a lengthy prison sentence on the last day of Sexual Assault Awareness Month,” said Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks. “This kind of sentence empowers victims and protects the public while sending a clear message to child sexual predators. Simply, when we get you, you will go to prison for a very long time.”

This case was investigated by the FBI, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Washoe County Child Advocacy Center.

Detectives have no evidence any other children were abused by Doyle.
