RENO, NV - The Washoe County School District has approved a new school uniform policy.
The policy will still allow each individual school to decide if it wants to implement uniforms. The school will have to decide if the uniforms will be mandatory or voluntary. If a school decides to have a uniform, it will have to follow new guidelines.
The guidelines include giving parents and students a survey; at least 51 percent of families will have to be in favor of the proposal for it to move forward. A committee of parents/guardians will also have to be created.
The uniforms can have the school logo and school name. But it cannot have any other wording, for example, “Home of the Bears.”
