RENO, NV - Reno's acting fire marshal confirms a man seriously burned in a fire last weekend has died.

The fire on West 4th Street Sunday, May 12, happened late in the morning at the Old 40 West Motel just west of McCarran.

One unit was burned, with crews able to keep the flames from spreading to other units.

The victim was flown to the UC Davis Burn Unit in California, where he died Sunday afternoon. His name hasn't been released.

Fire Marshal Dave Cochran says the fire started as the result of the man smoking in bed and falling asleep.
