Veterans' Day Events in Northern Nevada

RENO, NV - Here are some of the local activities taking place Thu., Nov. 11, Veterans' Day:

City of Reno Veterans' Day Parade, downtown Reno. Parade starts at 11:11am at Court and Virginia Streets. KOLO 8 News Now's Sarah Johns and John Tyson are among the announcers along the route.

Virginia City will hold its annual Salute to Veterans. The parade will begin at 11 a.m., in recognition of the date and time the Armistice was signed, ending World War I, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m. at the Fourth Ward School, 527 South C Street.

A photo display will be shared during a special Veterans' reception at 3 p.m. at Summit Ridge Assisted Living, located at 4880 Summit Ridge Drive, Reno.

The Veterans' Guest House, which provides temporary accommodations for veterans and their families who are receiving medical treatment in the area, will celebrate with a full day of activities... 880 Locust Street. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a special orange balloon release in honor of those exposed to Agent Orange. The release of balloons will take place on the front lawn of the Guest House.
