RENO, NV - One person has been flown to a hospital to be treated for burns sustained in a van fire Monday afternoon.
A man who apparently tried to help the victim in the Chevy minivan, which was destroyed, has also been taken to a hospital for treatment of burns.
Reno fire crews say the fire started around 4PM in a field behind Cabela's, off Interstate 80 in west Reno. The fire sent a large plume of smoke into the air.
Investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire, but Reno Battalion Chief Scott Baker says initial indications are that this was attempted suicide.
The fire didn't spread to surrounding brush or buildings.
