Vegas Bail Revoked for Former Assemblyman Brooks

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A judge in Las Vegas has revoked bail for a former Nevada state assemblyman now being held in California on felony charges stemming from a freeway chase and violent struggle with police last week.

The action on Wednesday against Steven Brooks came after prosecutors accused him of abiding by a court order to stay out of trouble while awaiting an evidence hearing on felony and misdemeanor charges in a Feb. 10 arrest in Las Vegas.

Justice of the Peace Melanie Andress-Tobiasson's ruling means that if Brooks gets out of jail in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., he'll be jailed without bail in Las Vegas.

Brooks' attorney, Mitchell Posin, says he hopes the judge's decision won't jeopardize Brooks' chances of getting into a psychological treatment program while he's held in California.
