RENO, Nev. (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden has cut his speech at a Reno high school short as a wildfire flares up nearby.
Aides summoned Biden from the stage 25 minutes into his Thursday
afternoon speech about college costs at Galena High School. He told
the audience he would have to move onto a question-and-answer time before officials had him leave the room.
The fast-moving brush fire has burned at least two homes as it moves through a valley near Reno, Nev. Many more homes in the area
are threatened, and the Nevada Highway Patrol says evacuations are
under way.
Bad weather had already delayed Biden more than two hours before
he arrived at the school en route from San Francisco. He was diverted to Fallon, 60 miles away, before coming to Reno.

Joe may have left ASAP, but Obama will probably make up for it by flying over the area with his staff to see how bad it was.
Mary, Concerned, and to those that oppose my opinion: You refer to Biden as a "leader" and as the "second most important person in the world". Great....that is YOUR opinion. Bottom line: He lacked showing leadership during his visit because the resources used to provide his visit (a CAMPAIGN VISIT AT THAT) should have been used ELSEWHERE at that time here in this community. He was here to try to raise money for the Democratic party. FINE...LIKE I CARE. I just happen to think it is B/S for ANY PARTY to USE PUBLIC MONIES for their campaigning programs.
Mary and Concerned; the fact is that tax dollars were spent on a reelect initiative yesterday. period. There are a lot of us unemployed out there in the real world that look at this as a waste. We look at those dollars and say wouldn't it be nice if those dollars were spent on initiatives to get a lot of us hard working americans back to work and a real wage for those who are working. There is a lot of anger in this country and our leadership should be aware. People like Biden live in a bubble. He had a great opportunity to get out of that bubble last night and bond with our community. Instead he rushed out of town. For that I will not vote for him even though I helped get him into office. He is the real example of the disconnect of government in our country. Instead of a real discusion we are all diminished to throwing barbs at each other in a post. The question is how do we create real and lasting changes?
