Unemployment Claims in Nevada Drop 11.8 Percent

RENO, NV - Unemployment claims in Nevada dropped 11.8 percent within the last year.

A total of 16,896 unemployment insurance claims were filed in June 2012.

The number of unemployment insurance claims filed in June 2013 was 14,910.

This is the second-largest decline Nevada has seen this year, and the first time since January that the decline has been more than 10 percent, according to Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Within the first half of 2013, job levels increased in Nevada by 23,600 (2.1 percent ), according to DETR.

The most job growth was seen in the leisure and hospitality sector, with an increase of 2.3 percent.
