STATELINE, Nev. (AP) - The U.S. Forest Service is making plans to replace the pier at Lake Tahoe's Zephyr Cove Resort.
Agency officials say the decades-old pier that is more than a football field long is nearing the end of its engineering life and must be brought up to current building codes.
The proposed replacement pier would be about the same size -
about 358 feet long by 18 feet wide.
The Forest Service's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is accepting comments on the plans through Aug. 3.
Work could begin as early as this fall and would take several months to complete.
Among other things, the agency says it intends to limit construction activities with heavy equipment or motorized tools to between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
