Second Victim in Motorcycle Crash Dies

CARSON CITY, NV - Nevada Highway Patrol investigators are looking for help with their investigation into a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup that killed both motorcyclists.

Troopers were called to the intersection of Fairview and Roop streets in Carson City about 10:45PM Saturday, March 22. 2014.

Troopers say a 2007 gold and maroon Suzuki street bike driven by 20-year-old Andrey L. Gallegos of Sparks along with 21-year-old passenger Audrey G. Rugamas of South Lake Tahoe was traveling southbound on Roop Street approaching the intersection of Fairview. That's where a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 60-year-old Donald T. McKean of Gardnerville was traveling westbound on Fairview. The motorcycle and pickup collided in the intersection, ejecting both occupants off the motorcycle.

Gallegos and Rugamas were transported by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical center in Reno in critical condition; Rugamas died March 26 after being taken off life support. Gallegos died after being taken off life support March 30. McKean was not injured.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the NHP Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is asking if any businesses or witnesses along Carson Street during the approximate hours of 9:50PM to 10PM may have captured video or witnessed a motorcycle with two riders wearing dark jackets and dark helmets driving at a high rate of speed. Trooper Kelly is asking the same of any businesses or witnesses along Roop Street during the approximate hours of 10:30PM to 10:40PM who may have captured video or are witnesses of the described bike and its riders or anyone in the area of South Lake Tahoe or Robinson Street in Carson City.
