CARSON CITY, NV - The Carson City Sheriff's Office has arrested two men they believe were involved in a Memorial Day weekend home invasion.
The Sheriff's Office says Robert “Robbie” Michael Hernandez and Jordan Randall Burkhart entered the home of James Sorrentino, a 100-year-old Army Air Corps and later U.S. Air Force veteran who lived with an in-residence female caretaker. The two men allegedly forced their way into the home by kicking and prying at the door, and the victims were robbed at gunpoint. According to the initial information, one of the suspects held a gun to the head of the caregiver during the robbery. Approximately $30 along with miscellaneous property was taken. Both robbers ran off. Neither victim required medical treatment.
A break in the case came Wednesday, May 28, when detectives with the Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan Burkhart for Probation Violation (no bail). This arrest took place at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office without incident. Following the arrest, he and the other suspect were identified as having been involved in the home invasion.
Warrants were issued for both suspects, including Conspiracy to Commit a Burglary with a Firearm and/or Invasion of the Home with a Firearm and/or Robbery with the Use of a Deadly Weapon Against a Person Over the Age of 60. Bail was set at $250,000 each.
Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team Officers had been in the Reno/Sparks area throughout the day attempting to locate Hernandez. At approximately 6:40 p.m., Robert Hernandez was located driving his own vehicle. Hernandez attempted to flee through residential areas, but was taken into custody by Sparks police officers after a short vehicle pursuit followed by a foot chase. Three parked cars on 7th Street received extensive damage during the chase. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
