SPARKS, NV - A Sparks motorcyclist has died of injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash July 4, 2014.

The crash happened shortly after 1PM at the intersection of Pyramid Way and Tyler Way in Sparks.

The NHP's investigation indicates 49-year-old Mark John Kesner of Sparks made a left turn in his pickup from Pyramid Highway into a gas station into the path of a motorcycle driven by 51-year-old Kenneth Roger Stewart of Sparks and a passenger, 19-year-old Cameron Stewart of Sparks. The vehicles collided and troopers say Kesner left the scene.

Troopers searched Kesner's cell phone, which was left at the scene, and tracked him down that night. He was booked into the Washoe County Jail, charged with failing to yield the right of way while making a left turn and fleeing the scene of an accident. Whether alcohol was a contributing factor is still under investigation.

Both riders of the motorcycle were taken to Renown. The passenger had minor injuries and was released later that same day. The driver, Kenneth R. Stewart, died nine days after the crash.
