Troopers believe speed is a factor in Sunday's crash in Fallon that killed one man.

Troopers responded to a head-on collision in Fallon Sunday, just after midnight. The preliminary investigation indicates that 29-year-old Nathan Miles Irwin of Fallon was heading west on SR116 in his Black 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. Troopers are still investigating what caused Irwin to cross the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a Chevy Suburban head-on.

Irwin died at the scene.

The driver of the Suburban, 24-year-old Shawntay Michelle Fredricks out of Schurz sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this incident and it is not known at this time if alcohol is involved.

The road was closed in both directions for approximately 5hours.
