RENO, NV - An orphaned dog is in need of the public's help.

Hope is an orphaned 4-year-old Daschund who needs to undergo challenging surgery, according to an official with the Nevada Humane Society.

NHP Trooper and Nevada Humane Society Board Member Chuck Allen and the Nevada Air National Guard members are asking the community to support Hope by coming to the "Tips for Hope" event.

Tips for Hope will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse located at 150 Damonte Ranch Parkway, according to the official.

The official says proceeds will benefit Hope's medical bills and care at the Nevada Humane Society.

Hope suffers from serious fractures on her back legs that are a result of her being hit by a car and left on the side of the road, according to the official. She will need a number of surgeries to help return her to good health.

The official says her surgeries begin on Monday.
