NV Energy says power has been restored to most customers. A few hundred homes that remain without power should be restored shortly.
CARSON CITY, Nev. -- Power customers in part of Carson City had no air conditioning Saturday afternoon.
Residents say they suddenly lost power around 1:30pm. About 3,200 customers were affected.
According to repair crews, the wind picked up a tent or tarp, blowing it into the power lines on Winnie Lane. One of the lines fell to the ground and had to be repaired. Before that could happen, crews had to remove the tarp from the lines.
The hot power lines burned the debris but did not start a grass or brush fire in the area.
Because of the severity of the damage, power was predicted to be down in the area for at least six hours.
