RENO, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are reporting no damage or injuries from a cluster of earthquakes that continue to jostle Nevada's Mineral County.
University of Nevada, Reno, seismologist Diane DePolo tells The
Associated Press the largest of the Friday morning quakes southwest
of Hawthorne registered a magnitude 4.3 just after 6:30 a.m.
Mineral County sheriff's dispatcher Brittnee Butcher described that temblor as a little bit of shaking. She says she also felt a magnitude 3.2 quake about 11:20 a.m., and several others.
The U.S. Geological Survey logged six quakes greater than a magnitude 3 and almost two dozen smaller quakes between midnight
and noon about 10 to 15 miles southwest of Hawthorne.
DePolo says the quakes appear to be part of a series that have been occurring in the area during the last month.
