Parents and students at Reed High School in Sparks are in shock after hearing that a female teacher's aide has been arrested, during an interview about sex with a student.

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe it! You know I have a freshman and a senior at Reed High School and that's horrible!" says Marian Plata, a Sparks resident.

Parents are in disbelieve after learning about 21-year-old Marie Fisher. The Washoe County School Police arrested Fisher on Tuesday during an interview about having sex with a student.

"An individual came forward and believed some activity was going on," says Mike Mieras, Chief of the Washoe County School District Police. "Through the investigation, it was determined there was sexual conduct between the two."

While Fisher wasn't on campus on Wednesday, plenty of students there are talking about her.

"I think she should have known better. She's a role model for all the kids who go here," says Alex Huttonpotts, a Reed High School student.

"You don't think this would happen at your own school," says Richard Craven, another Reed student.

"For it to be at reed high school, my high school, my kids high school, I can't believe it! I think it's terrible, terrible, terrible," says Plata, who has two kids who attend the school.

"That's absurd," says Jaime Hurtado, a Sparks resident who lives near the school. "You hear this ont he news. To hear it's just a couple of blocks away is unheard of. It just makes me angry."

Marie Fisher started working for the school district in October 2010, but after Tuesday's arrest, she is no longer an employee. School District officials won't say what classes she helped out with at the school.

"We're still working on how many incidents. But we did have enough to confirm that there was enough to make one arrest and charge her with that one," says Chief Mieras.

Fisher faces charges of sexual misconduct and statutory sexual seduction.
