CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in rural Pershing County that left a suspect injured and several deputies on leave.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety says the incident happened Friday at a house near the Sonoma Ranch area of northern Pershing County.

Authorities say suspect James Gentry exchanged gunfire with deputies from Pershing and Humboldt counties, and was injured in the confrontation.

State officials say he was treated at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno and now faces felony attempted murder charges.

Deputies were not injured, and are on paid administrative leave during the investigation. No other bystanders were hurt.
