RENO, NV - The search continues for the driver who eluded Mono County, California and NHP officials in a high-speed chase.

On Saturday morning, February 22, 2014, around 8:30 a.m., deputies with the Mono County Sheriff's Office pulled over a car for speeding through Coleville, according to Mono County police.

Mono County police say the car was pulled over on Highway 395 in the northbound direction. They say when deputies approached the car, both the driver, Zachary Carr, 32, and the passenger Geoffrey Guess, 26, acted suspiciously when they were asked to show their ID, registration and proof of insurance.

Carr was identified as a resident of Pocotello, ID.

Both men told deputies they didn't have their ID and "must have left it at home," according to Mono County police.

Deputies asked Carr to step out of the car and proceeded to interview him. During the interview, Guess climbed into the driver's seat and sped away, according to Mono County police.

During this time, Carr became uncooperative, according to Mono County police. Deputies were finally able to detain Carr in the back of the police car.

Mono County Sheriff's Dispatch put out an alert to Nevada law enforcement and Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies initiated the pursuit, according to Mono County police.

NHP says Guess drove into Nevada at speeds more than 119 mph.

NHP lost Guess in Washoe Valley by Bowers Mansion, according to Trooper Lopez.

Upon further questioning, Carr said he was helping Guess escape law enforcement out of Utah, according to Mono County police. They say Carr knew Guess was a fugitive and was helping in taking him to Southern California.

According to Mono County police, Carr admitted to recently taking methamphetamine.

Carr was arrested for aiding a fugitive, evading a peace officer and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Guess is known to resist police officers and is considered to be armed and dangerous, according to Trooper Lopez with NHP.

Mono County police say Guess has a Class III felony warrant out of Utah and a misdemeanor warrant out of Kings County.

No description of Guess has been released. The car Guess is driving is described as a 4-door 2013 Silver Hyundai Sonata with California registration 6VRP791.
