Nightfall brought little relief from powerful wind gusting the in the Reno-area.
Wind caused a powerline to fall in Lockwood, closing a road.
"It's pretty wild, it's windy," a woman in downtown Reno said.
The day saw blowing dust on local highways, and signs swinging in the wind.
Fences crashed down throughout the Truckee Meadows.
"It's not good, messes up my girlfriend's hair," Charles Flood said.
The wind was a more serious situation for some. It was responsible for a semi toppling on I-80 near Mogul.
