Reno, NV - At Total Wine and More, just about everyone is working on this last day of the year. It's one of their busiest.
"We're ready to go and we're ready to get everyone off to a good New Year!" says Anthony Kingsland, manager at Total Wine and More.
And to make things easy for last-minute shoppers, they've set a one-stop shopping area right by the registers - with their most popular champagne in front.
"It's Montaudon," says Kingsland. "It's actually the champagne of Tour de France. It's wonderful."
Customers say this isn't the day they plan to spend their dollars lightly.
"Today, probably a few hundred apiece, probably," says Kevin Guidry, who was stocking up on spirits at Total Wine and More with two friends.
But you can't have bubbly without the bling. That's why it has been a busy day at party supply stores.
At Party America on South Virginia Street, the line for balloons seemed to keep growing. The assistant manager says sales on this day are equivalent to what they would normally do in a month.
"Oh my gosh! Swamped! Busy!" says Nina Robbins, assistant manager. "People want to party. They've got to have their New Years attire, New Years balloons."
But some people say they're over all of the parties. And instead, they just want to take it easy and wake up to the new year.
"We are just going to stay home and have king crab legs from Costco," says Sue Bernheisel, an Incline Village resident about her holiday plans. "Break out the china and be in bed by 9:30."
