RENO, NV - Stewie, a 6-year-old Maine Coon, is known across the country for his title of Guinness World Record Holder for the Longest Domestic Cat, measuring 48.5 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. Now, he’s facing a new battle: Cancer.

Stewie lives in Reno with his person, Robin Hendrickson. On Christmas Day, Robin took him to an emergency vet for a mass found behind his eye. Several Weeks later, he was given a biopsy by Eye Care for Animals, and most recently was told he is facing Lymphosarcoma, a malignant disease of the lymphoid tissues.

“The vets at Eye Care for Animals told me that of all the feline cancers he could have this is the most treatable. With radiation and chemotherapy, he could have over two more years left, but I am still
optimistic about his future,” said Robin, Stewie’s person. “However, this treatment is going to be expensive, and we are asking the community to help us save his life, and give him the ñlture he deserves.”

Although Stewie is known for his celebrity status, it hasn’t changed his love for people and making a difference in the community. Stewie, who also holds a record for the World’s Longest Tail on a Domestic Cat, is a certified therapy cat. He frequently visits people at the Regent Care Center in Reno, and one day hopes to visit the children at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Robin says she hopes that he can help spread awareness for animal welfare, but that mostly, she hopes he makes people smile.

If you can help contribute to Stewie’s medical care, and allow for him to continue making a difference in Reno (and neighboring cities), please visit hßpz//stewiel _chipin.com/stewies-vet-bills. Stewie also
has a Facebook page under his official name, Mymains Stewart Gilligan, where you can receive updates on his health.
