CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada's chief economist says the state gained 60,700 private sector jobs over the last three years.

The assessment released Thursday by Chief Economist Bill Anderson says the figures exceeded previous job growth expectations and signals Nevada's economy continues its climb out of recession.

Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval made it his goal to create 50,000 jobs in his first term. Sandoval says the latest report shows the economic storm that plagued the country and hit Nevada particularly hard is beginning to break.

Anderson says revised estimates show Nevada's jobless rate in 2013 was 9.8 percent. While that's up from a preliminary estimate of 9.4 percent, it still represents a 1.7 percent decline from the previous year.
