RENO, NV - A man is in custody after police say he tried to steal from a Save-Mart, then ran several blocks away and held police at bay.
Christopher Frye was arrested at the Gateway Inn on Stardust, near Keystone Avenue, Wednesday evening. Police say the man stole a pair of shorts at the nearby Save-Mart grocery store, but gave the shorts back when security confronted him.
When security called police there was a fight between two security officers and a cashier, and a bystander who intervened was slashed with a knife. That's when the man ran off.
The injuries to the bystander are described as minor.
Frye is charged with one count of robbery, one count of battery with a deadly weapon and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
