RENO -- A spring snow has gardeners in the Reno-area taking steps to keep their plants safe.
Jon Bruyn of Moana Nursery said covering your plants is a good idea.
"This is a very usual event, some of us who have been here a long time plan on frost," he said.
Bruyn said a wall of water surrounding a plant is a popular choice of Nevada gardeners. "The sun hits those tubes and causes them to heat up... It radiates heat out of the plant during the night time."
He also said putting a bucket over a plant provides some protection.
He said frost could occur in the region through mid-May.
"It's not a guarantee but statistically we're free at that point."
