BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Police say at least three spectators have been injured by shrapnel sent flying at the demolition of an abandoned steam power plant.
The Bakersfield Californian reports that hundreds of people gathered early Saturday to watch Pacific Gas and Electric demolish the plant from a nearby parking lot.
Lt. Scott Tunnicliffe says at least three people were injured including a 44-year-old man who could lose at least one leg.
Tunnicliffe says there might be additional victims.
