9:00pm UPDATE-- NV Energy is reporting that is has restored power to all its Sparks customers. This after power was out for nearly 2800 customers for 6 hours.

The utility originally believe the outage was caused by a bad line at the Greg street substation, but after further investigation, it learned that a tree had fallen onto a line on LaVia street in Sparks.

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police are asking drivers to stay away from the intersection of Sparks Boulevard and Prater Way because of a power outage.

NV Energy says the outage is affecting about 2800 residential and business customers, including at least parts of the Outlets at Sparks mall at the Sparks Marina. It started about 3PM Monday.

The outage is because of a bad line at a Greg Street substation, but the exact nature of the problem hasn't been determined, so there is no word when the power will be back on.
