SPARKS, NV - Sparks police have arrested the man who admitted shooting two squatters on his property in February.

73-year-old Wayne Burgarello was arrested Tuesday, May 27, on charges of murder and attempted murder.

The investigation began February 13, 2014, after Burgarello was notified of trespassers on his vacant property on H Street. Burgarello told police he armed himself and found Cody Devine and Janai Wilson sleeping in the house. He shot both, killing Devine and seriously wounding Wilson, who is recovering.

Sparks police say they have conducted numerous interviews and carefully examined evidence in this case, working with the Washoe District Attorney's Office.

Burgarello is at the Washoe County Jail on a no-bail hold.

Janai Wilson will not be charged.
